What is this group of young customers?

This reference group is made up of young people (aged 18-24) of diverse backgrounds and experience. This group represents the diversity of young people in NSW including:

  • First Nations young people
  • Young people from culturally diverse communities including refugees and migrants
  • LGBTQIA+ young people
  • Young people with a disability
  • Young people from regional NSW
  • Young people doing it tough.

Why are we doing this?

We know that young people will inherit the decision making of the older generations as the nation moves to net zero by 2050.

Advice from young people is critical to ensure that the recommendations made to Jemena adequately reflect youth values and priorities. This group will test and respond to the recommendations made by the Customer Forum.

What are the outcomes?

Through the face to face and online sessions, we want to specifically understand young people's views about:

  • the Australian government’s plan to achieve net zero emissions by 2050 and the role of gas in the energy transition
  • the concept of fairness for customers especially intergenerational equity
  • values and priorities around gas and energy
  • the recommendations that the Customer Forum will make to Jemena.
