Our retailer engagement session six, was held Friday 23 February, 2024. The session allowed Jemena Gas Networks to check in and consult with New South Wales retailers on the Draft 2025 Plan and walk them through the Plan to ensure it reflected their views.

11 participants attended, including representatives from: Red Energy, Energy Australia, Alinta Energy, Origin and AGL. Two attendees were observers from the Australian Energy Regulator (AER).

Our aims for the session were.

to recap on our engagement to date including different customer groups

  • to walk the retailers through the Jemena Gas Networks Draft 2025 Plan including:
    • customer forum recommendations and voting
    • reporting back on how retailer feedback was incorporated into the Draft 2025 Plan
    • how the Draft 2025 Plan lines up with customer values
    • proposed changes to tariff structures and revenue recovery
    • proposed changes to the Reference Service Agreement (RSA) process
  • and seek views and reflections on how Jemena has incorporated customer and stakeholder recommendations into the Draft 2025 Plan.

Overall, most retailers agreed that the Draft 2025 Plan reflected the sessions and discussions they had with the Jemena team to date.

Retailer feedback when asked if Jemena had incorporated customer and stakeholder recommendations included words such as “very well”, “seems balanced”, "holistic”, “comprehensive” and “pragmatic”.

Some retailers were interested in the diverse voices in the consultation, including what young people had said versus the wider customer forum group.

“Jemena has done a wonderful and comprehensive 2025 Draft Plan (sic). I feel this encapsulates customer’s needs in such a dynamic and changing energy market.”

Other retailer feedback focused on the digital gas meter rollout and the clarity of the Reference Service Agreement (RSA) update.

The final proposal is being submitted to the AER in June 2024.
