Draft Plan 2020

Welcome to our Draft 2020 Plan home page

Jemena Gas Networks is Australia’s largest and fastest growing gas distribution network. We build and maintain the underground pipes and other equipment that deliver gas safely and reliably to you and the almost 1.4 million other homes and businesses in NSW connected to our network.

We are part of a broader energy supply chain that spans from gas production to retailing, and our charges make up around 40% of a typical residential customer’s gas bill.

Our Draft 2020 Plan is a summary of what we heard from our customers to date. In order to ensure that our customers’ views shape our 2020 Plan, we started our engagement program more than a year ago. During that time, we have consulted with a range of customers – from residential all the way through to large industrial customers to understand what they need from the gas network now, and in the future.

The Draft 2020 Plan outlines how we have taken customer feedback into account when developing the strategy for the gas network. The Draft 2020 Plan covers the period between 1 July 2020 to 30 June 2025.

As part of our 2020 Plan, we intend to propose a Capital Expenditure Sharing Scheme (CESS). We believe that this is in the long-term interests of customers as it will help us to further improve our efficiency, keeping a downward pressure on bills.

We have developed a consultation paper on our plans to propose a CESS, and are holding a workshop on 9 April 2019. We invite stakeholders to register to attend the workshop. Further details are included in the consultation paper in the document section on the right-hand side of this page.

Additional Information on our Draft 2020 Plan

For those who want additional information on some of the more technical aspects of our Draft 2020 Plan, we have produced an addition document to accompany the Draft 2020 Plan. It covers:

  • The services we provide to our customers and changes that we are proposing;
  • Additional information on our network prices; and
  • Accessing our network – an overview of our proposed revisions to the Access Arrangement and Reference Service Agreement

Whilst it is certainly more complex subject matter than detailed in the Draft 2020 Plan, it is written in the same spirit of openness and transparency. We are publishing it as a draft in order to elicit feedback on what we are proposing for the next regulatory period, and we very much welcome your views.
